  The Foundation Phase in education marks the initial stage of formal learning, covering pupils in Grade R to Grade 3 in South Africa. This critical period lays the groundwork for all future learning. During this phase, pupils are introduced to essential concepts in literacy, numeracy, and life skills. The pedagogical approach at this stage is designed to foster a positive attitude towards learning, encourage creativity, and support the holistic development of each child.
